Meet Kaitlyn Taylor, our “Live Forever” Scholarship Winner!

Kaitlyn Taylor is passionate about serving others. By the time she graduates this spring, she will have devoted over 400 hours to service projects during her high school career - all while maintaining great grades, taking honors classes, cheerleading, and working several part time jobs.

Growing up, Kaitlyn developed a love of animals early. Her family took many trips to local zoos, farms, parks, and pet stores, where Kaitlyn was introduced to a huge variety of animals. When her younger brother was born with special needs, she saw first hand how including animals in therapy created amazing results. This strengthened Kaitlyn’s love of and interest in working with animals as a way of helping both animals and people.

Kaitlyn is also a dedicated cheerleader who not only worked hard on her own team, but volunteered at Camp Rah-Rah Cheer Camp to assist and train children in basic cheer skills. Her favorite part of the camp is the final performance that the kids put on for their parents. The lesson she took from cheerleading is no many how many times you fail, just keep trying until you succeed!

One of Kaitlyn’s proudest accomplishments was being selected into her school district’s prestigious National Health Academy Biomedical Science Program in her freshman year. The Academy is a project based, student-driven STEM program. She participated in the Academy all four years of high school and earned a Biotechnical Assistant Certification!

Kaitlyn is heading off to the University of South Florida this fall to study animal science - the first step towards her dream of becoming a veterinarian. We wish her all the best and know that she will continue to succeed at whatever she puts her mind to!
