Kinja Bagalwa - September 2020 "No Sweat" Scholarship Winner

Even amidst a pandemic, senior and September “No Sweat” Scholarship winner Kinja Bagalwa has gone above and beyond in her academics, extracurriculars and her community. As president of the French club and a member of JROTC, Kinja is in the top 10 percent of her class at Hutch Tech High!

From the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinja is one of five children. Despite moving from place to place as a refugee, she was able to settle in at Hutch Tech High where she found her passion in JROTC. She says that the program has taught her discipline, leadership, and how to be a better citizen. So far, she has logged over 90 hours of community service through the program!

In addition to her community work, Kinja is also president of the Connect Life Club and secretary of the National Honors Society at her school, where she always promotes that scholars be the best in their studies.

Her work doesn’t stop there. Outside of school, Kinja participates in The University of Buffalo's Upper Band Program, which has driven her to her scholastic achievements. Kinja is proud to use Cirkled In to broadcast these achievements and more to colleges around the country, as well as share her profile with others.

Looking to the future, Kinja plans to attend the University at Buffalo to pursue teaching while focusing on education for English as a Second Language (ESL) students.
