Joel Guerrero - Second Winner of the Cirkled In $250 COVID-19 Relief Grant
What do "dream-chaser", "volunteer", and "passionate leader" all have in common? They are all the embodiment of Cirkled In's COVID-19 Relief Grant Winner, Joel Guerrero! His unique life story has shaped him to pursue his goals while giving back to his local community at church and schools.
He is a sophomore in Immokale High School based in Florida. Being raised by a single parent instilled the values of hard work and perseverance in his heart from a young age. Joel is now the youth president at his church and helps with organizing fundraising events to provide the youth opportunities, including attending various camps. He is also part of the Immokale Foundation, which has helped him immensely in obtaining resources and guidance for his work. His never ending hard work and involvement doesn't stop there, Joel is also part of the Florida State SSTRIDE program and National Academy Foundation. Through these organizations, Joel gains valuable exposure to both STEM and business related careers for him to explore through field trips, guest speakers, and more.
Outside of this work, you can find Joel giving back to his local community through various activities. For instance, he helped prepare meals for hurricane victims with his church, and set up obstacle courses at elementary schools for their field days. On his free days, Joel likes to garden and take afternoon walks. He especially likes watching television with his younger brother!
Cirkled In helped Joel in seeking financial aid and getting a head start in his resume. He recommends it to other high schoolers looking for colleges, scholarships, jobs, internships, and more. This scholarship will bring him one step closer to his goal of becoming a general dentist at the community outreach center in Immokale, Florida. He hopes this career will allow him to continue in his journey of serving the community and making his dreams a reality!
