Three Activities to Help Get Through a Summer with COVID
We can’t deny it--summer looks a lot different in 2020. With family vacations, cookouts, and beach days a distant memory for many, we’ve compiled some activities to help students and families make the most of Summer 2020.
1. Build Activities in Your Backyard
With a COVID surge, it’s difficult to enjoy activities in our communities. So why not make your backyard your own playground? Whether it’s a homemade Slip N Slide or an obstacle course to compete with your family, spending some time outside will give you some well-needed vitamin D and laughs.
2. Take Up a Hobby that Interests You
Throughout the school year, students are focusing on academics and extracurriculars. Summer without vacations can be a great opportunity to test out hobbies you’ve always wanted to try. For example, you can try creative writing, baking, practicing a new sport, sewing, painting, and more! Regardless of what you choose, the extra skill will help you in the future personally and with college applications.
3. Participate in Online Learning
It’s true--summer is for fun. But who says learning can’t be fun? Due to COVID-19, there is an abundance of online learning opportunities. Want to visit a museum? The Smithsonian is offering tours. Love theater? Playbill has opportunities for the whole family! There is no limit to what you can learn online this summer. Even if you’re just interested in keeping up with academics, there are plenty of resources for that, too. We recommend sitting down with your parent or guardian to help find the right classes for you.
