Keeping Students Motivated During the Holiday Season
While the holidays can bring excitement and joy, lack of motivation can set in for everyone—including students. We’ve gathered a few tips to help your students finish strong before the final bell rings releasing them for the much-coveted winter break.
1. Peak their interests
Regular lesson plans may not make the cut during the holiday season. With the anticipation starting in November, turning normal lesson plans into fun games, interactive activities and projects allows students to take their mind off the holidays and re-focus on academics in an exciting way.
2. Turn the holidays into a lesson
With a wide variety of holidays, there are many learning opportunities available! Allowing students to share their culture and religion during the holidays not only give them an opportunity to research their culture, but also provides other students with perspectives from other families and a diversity of backgrounds.
3. Give the gift of knowledge!
Via Twitter, we asked educators how they keep their kids motivated during the holidays. We can’t help but to share this great idea from Sandy, a middle school teacher!
