Welcome to SAT/ACT Season (If You Decide to Take the Tests)

Happy testing season! With SAT and ACT testing approaching, it can be a stressful time for parents and students. If you decide to take the test due to changing college requirements, we’ve gathered 10 quick tips to help any student feel more confident while preparing for the big day.

  1. Start a virtual study group. Your peers are most likely stressed as well! Starting a study group can be a helpful way to share tips and challenge each other.

  2. Practice self-care. Between digital school, schools reopening and studying, it can feel like you have no time to relax. Carve out time to put the books down for an hour and do something you genuinely enjoy. Aromatherapy diffuser? Check! Fresh water? Got it!

  3. Have balanced meals. Food can really impact how we feel! Before the test, be sure you’re eating balanced meals and snacks that promote good health. Try nuts, protein, veggies, or a yogurt.

  4. Engage your family. Secluding yourself can be helpful but don’t forget about resources around you. How did your older sibling prepare for the test? Can your parents quiz you?

  5. Be prepared. Do you have your mask? What’s the capacity for the test? What’re their COVID restrictions?

  6. Set a schedule. DON’T CRAM FOR THE TEST! Give yourself plenty of time to study and digest the information.

  7. Get back to basics. It never hurts to brush up on mental math skills or grammar.

  8. Utilize resources. Don’t miss out on resources all around you. You’re not alone in this. A great start is the Online Practice Test from College Board. You can find ACT practice questions here.
